Nintendo's Switch boosted not only the company, but the entire video game industry

The Nintendo Switch had a great run in 2017. The Japanese video game giant sold nearly 3 million Switches the month it launched, wiping out all of the company's stock. Nintendo has been doubling down on manufacturing ever since but is still struggling to keep up with demand. To date, the Switch is the fastest selling console ever in the US. 

Not only has the Switch's popularity boosted Nintendo's sales, it's had a marked effect on the entire US video game business. As indicated by this chart from Statista, which is based on data from market research firm NPD Group, the Switch played a big role in boosting total US game console sales last year and helping push overall industry sales to a record high.

The 10 safest countries in the world for women

Leanna Garfield/Business Insider New World Wealth consultancy has carried out an analysis on the safest countries in the world for women.  They claim there is a correlation of 92% between historic wealth growth and the safety levels of women. Australia ranked as the safest country in the world for women.  It was followed by Malta and Iceland, but the  UK didn't make the top 10. Australia is the world's safest country for a woman, according to analysis by consultancy New World Wealth in its 2018 Global Wealth Migration Review. The report mainly looks at the movement of high net worth individuals (HNWI) across the world. However, part of that analysis involves reviewing the safest countries for women. "Woman safety is one of the best ways to gauge a country's long term wealth growth potential, with a correlation of 92% between historic wealth growth and woman safety levels," the report says.
